The songs were recorded at Cyprus Well, home of the poet Charles Causley, in Launceston, Cornwall. I played the poets own piano and was joined by Ceri Owen Jones on harp and trombone. The session was recorded by Nick Marshall in Jan 2013

Track 1 Tecumseh Valley

A song by Townes Van Zandt, I've included a verse from the Welsh folk song 'Yr eneth gaeth ei gwrthod’

Track 2 Lips No Longer Wet with Wine

'Lips no longer wet with wine' is a line from the Causley poem 'Rattler Morgan', an elegy for a drowned sailor. The track itself is a collage of the poem and the Northumbrian folk song and nursery rhyme 'Bobby Shaftoe'.

Track 3 The Unquiet grave

Words traditional, melody by Kris Drever, the poets piano sounding especially spectral.
